Michele de Sá Dechoum

Biologist with a Masters degree in Plant Biology from UNICAMP and a PhD in Ecology from the Federal University of Santa Catarina (UFSC). Professor in the Ecology and Zoology Department at UFSC, Brazil. Collaborates with the Horus Institute since 2008. Works on applied ecology, having established invasion biology as the main line of research. Coordinates the Horus Institute Volunteer Program on invasive plant control in coastal ecosystems in Florianopolis, Brazil.

Michele has a personal challenge of getting the results of her research to be used in public policies and environmental conservation initiatives.

Loves outdoor activities, cycling and travelling to remote areas.
